Gnäbe Bugle

Hola a todos! Ayer me llegó un paquete súper especial, un pedido que hice con 8 esmaltes. Me sentía cual niño en navidad, me encantaron los colores que escogí.

Hello everyone! Yesterday I received a super special mail, 8 polishes I ordered online. I felt like a kid on Christmas, I loved every color I picked.

Además, le di la oportunidad a Jorge (mi esposito) para que eligiera los colores y el diseño. Jorge es una persona súper «cuadriculada» con sus cosas, así que después de mucha investigación (en serio, le tomo como 20 minutos decidir algo) para encontrar alguna inspiración que no estuviera basada en uñas hechas por otras personas, habló y me dijo: Gnabe Bugle. Los Gnabe Bugle son indígenas panameños que utilizan vestidos largos y tienen unos triángulos, les muestro una tela de referencia seguida de mis uñas.

Besides, I gave Jorge (my husband) the opportunity to chose the colors and the design of my nails. Jorge is a very «squared» person with his stuff, so after a lot of research (seriously, it took him like 20 minutes to decide something) to find the right inspiration, that wasn’t based on other people’s nail designs, he spoke and said: Gnabe Bugle. So, just for information, Gnabe Bugle are one of the native of Panama and the women use these long and beautiful dresses that has triangles on it, so I’m showing you a reference followed by my nails.

Los vestidos son de colores vivos y los triángulos tienen un significado también, son las montañas donde ellos viven y cada uno de los colores que tengan puestos representan cosas de la naturaleza / The color of the dresses are pretty bright and the triangles mean the mountains where they live, also, the colors or the dresses have a meaning too and they’re related to the colors you’ll find in nature.

Cómo hacer estas uñas? / How to get these nails done:

1. Aplicar la capa base, siempre. / Apply a base coat, always.
2. Aplica 2 capas de ChG Flirty Tankini en todas las uñas, excepto una, que aplicas 2 capas de ChG Towel Boy Toy. / Apply 2 coats of ChG Flirty Tankini on each nail, except on the accent one, that you’ll need to apply 2 coats of Towel Boy Toy.
3. Completamente freehand (o utilizando tape, como prefieras) haz una linea horizontal que ocupe al menos media uña, utilizando ChG Flip Flop Fantasy. / Freehand or use tape, however you feel, make a horizontal line covering at least half of the nail using ChG Flip Flop Fantasy.
4. Utilizando un pincel de brocha delgado y ChG Sun Worshiper, pinta los triángulos en las uñas. / Using a stripping brush and ChG Sun Worshiper, do the small triangles on your nails.
5. Utilizando nuevamente el pincel de brocha delgada, ahora dibuja una línea horizontal para crear alguna división, utilizando ChG Towel Boy Toy / Using the stripping brush again, do a thin horizontal line to create the «division» between colors, using ChG Towel Boy Toy.
6. Aplicar tu top coat / Apply your top coat.

Mes de la patria

Llegó noviembre, el mes de la patria! Celebramos el día de la separación de Colombia, el día de la bandera, el día de Colón, grito de la independencia y el día de la independencia. Con todas estas fiestas, mi primer manicure del mes, tenía que ser  honrando la bandera. Así que sin más les presento, las uñas «patrióticas»

November has arrived, and along with it, the national holidays, we celebrate the separation from Colombia and the independence from Spain. With all this holidays, my very first manicure had to be related to my flag, so without further ado, my «patriotic» nails.

Cómo hacer estas uñas? / How to get this nails done?

1. Aplicar una capa base, como siempre. / Apply a base coat, as always.

2. Aplicar en 2 uñas 2 capas de SH Cherry Red / Apply 2 coats of SH Cherry Red on 2 nails.

3. Utilizando Masglo Tiza, pinta 2 capas para el accent nail de la bandera / Using Masglo Tiza, apply two coats to the accent nail (for the flag).

4. Aplica 2 capas de ChG First Mate en una uña / Apply 2 coats of ChG First Mate in one nail.

5. Aplica 3 capas de Milani 3D 509 en la última uña / Apply 3 coats of Milani 3D 509 in the last nail.

6. Utilizando un palillo de dientes, diseña las estrellas y las líneas de las bandera, y luego rellena los cuadros utilizando el pincel del esmalte. / Using a toothpick, design the stars and the flag lines, then using the polish brush, fill the squares.

7. Espera a que seque bien y aplica una capa de SH No Chip. \ Wait until it dries and apply a coat of SH No Chip.

 

P-A-N-A-M-A

Hoy, 12 de octubre, día de Cristobal Colón, de las razas o de whatever lo que sea, no es tan importante para el panameño, como que HOY Panamá se juega su pase oficial a la hexagonal. woohoo! Hoy  a las 9pm la ciudad de va a paralizar y todo mundo va a estar en el estadio, cinta costera, bares, casas viendo este importante juego contra honduras, en el cual, honestamente, esperamos ganarle por mucho. Obvio, Honduras es un país que ha ido al mundial, no hizo NADA mientras fue, pero puede decir que ha ido y esta pelea, tenaz, en realidad, comenzó gracias a ellos, que se han olvidado de ser humildes y han tirado, por decirlo así «fliex» contra los panameños. Así que sin más les presento mis uñas de la «sele» y esta noche, apoyaremos la marea roja con todo!

Today, October 12th, is Christopher Colombus day, the day of the races or whatever your country is celebrating is not important for the panamanian, because TODAY Panama will play to grant his ticket to next phase for the World Cup. YAY! So today, at 9pm the entire city will stop and everyone will be on the stadium, cinta costera, bars or houses watching this important game against Honduras, in which, honestly, we hope to kick their butts. Obviously Honduras has been on the world cup, even though they did nothing, but at least they went right, so this absurd fight started, thanks to them, because they forgot to be humble and they’ve been criticizing us, heavily. So, without further ado, my nails, and tonight Panama, la marea roja está contigo!

Usé \ I used:

• LASplash Base Coat
• Masglo Tiza (Chalk)
• China Glaze First Mate
• Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Cherry Red
• Essie matte about you

Primero apliqué la capa base de LASplash, seguido de 1 2 capas blancas de Masglo Tiza en 3 dedos. Luego, me pinte mi uña del medio con 1 capa gruesa de ChG First Mate y en mi uña del dedo gordo 2 capas de SH Cherry Red (que he mencionado anteriormente que es uno de mis esmaltes favoritos, a pesar que no me gustan muchos los esmaltes rojos). Luego, utilizando mi dotting tool, me inspiré haciendo puntitos rojos y azules en 2 uñas y finalmente, en el accent nail, utilizando el dotting tool (porque aún no soy muy diestra con los pinceles) hice la bandera panameña.

First, I applied my base coat, LASplash, followed by 2 coats of Masglo Tiza (Chalk) on 3 nails. Then, I applied one thick coat of ChG First Mate on my middle finger and on my thumbnail 2 coats of SH Cherry Red (which I had mentioned is one of my favorite polishes, even though I’m not into red polish). Then, using my dotting tool, I got inspired dotting 2 nails with red and blue polka dots, and finally, on the accent nail using the dotting tool (because IDK how to use the thin brush yet) I made the panamanian flag.

Ahora, anoche, después de esperar 1 hora a que se secara el manicure, hice la capa matte en una uña y se corrió TODA la pintura roja, así que, me quité la pintura, volví a trabajar la uña y me fui a dormir, sin aplicar top coat ni nada, y esta mañana, NUEVE horas después fui a ponerme mi top coat, que no sé si he mencionado, pero estoy en una etapa matte, Essie Matte About you y.. SE CORRIÓ todo el esmalte.. Ahgrr! Bueno, al final terminé de aplicarlo y ya lo dejé así.

Now, last night, when I did my manicure, I waited ONE hour until it was dry, and I try to use the top coat and it «melted» all the red polka dots became a huge mess, so I took that nail away and I went to sleep, without applying top coat (what a bad ass) and this morning, after NINE hours of slept, I tried to apply the top coat (IDK if I’ve mentioned it, but I’m in a matte phase) and it melted.. again. So, because I was in a hurry, like every morning, I had to let it be like that.

L.A. Colors – My first time \ Mi primera vez

Después de haber trabajado en las uñas de Mónica, no podía dejar de ver mis uñas y lo horrible que estaban así que decidí hacerme un nuevo manicure. Siempre, en todos los blogs que veo, leo sobre varias marcas China Glaze, OPI, Sation, y muchas otras, entre ellas «L.A. Colors». Hace rato quería probar esmaltes de esa marca, pero estaba esperando el trip a Chicago para conseguirlos. Hasta que los encontré en Panamá.. a $0.99.. Sí, menos de un dólar. Era un must. Compré un par y finalmente hoy decidí probarlos.

After working on Monica’s nails, I couldn’t stop looking at my nails and how ugly they look, so I decided to get a new manicure. In every blog I follow or read, there are plenty of brands I’m not able to get here (or at least at a normal price) like  ChG, OPI, Sation and many others such as L.A. Colors. I don’t know why, but I really wanted to try this brand, but I was waiting to get to Chicago to get them, but guess what I found them here at $0.99, less than a dollar. It was a must. I bought few of them and finally today I decided to try them.

Para mi manicure usé \ I used:

• Shaki Hardening (I need to get a basecoat ASAP)
• L.A. Colors Luscious Wine
• L.A. Colors Lightning
• L.A. Colors Tropical Storm
• Shany Plate SH22
• Sally Hansen Acrylic Coat

Este es Lightning, su fórmula es super smooth para aplicar y su secado es normal. \ This is Lightning, its formula is smooth and the drying time is regular.

Este es Luscious Wine, que es como un rojo vino, pero de acuerdo a la cantidad de capas que uno haga, puede pasar por un rosado muy fuerte. Su fórmula no me gustó mucho, tuve que aplicarlo 3 veces y el acabado no quedó como esperaba, con espacios en blanco que me costó quitar, por eso tuve que aplicar una tercera capa y aún así, podía verlos. \ This is Luscious Wine, which is like a red wine, but according to the amount of coats you would apply, it could look like a strong dark pink. I didn’t like the formula, I have to apply 3 coats and in the end my nails didn’t look the way I wanted, it has like «bald» spots that I have problems hiding, that’s why I applied a third coat, even after that last one, I could still see the spots..

En esta foto, noté unos «pelitos» saliendo de uno de los dedos, era el esmalte acrilico, ya los quité, pero no tomaré otra foto \ In this picture I noticed some «hair» on my finger, it was the acrylic polish, I already took them off! 

Como el manicure no podía ser simple, y más porque estaba súper entusiasmada con las uñas de Mónica, que hasta ahora considero que ha sido el mejor stamping que he aplicado, quería hacer stamping. Mi esposo, que estaba sentado viendo tv al lado me dijo que era una mala idea y que no iba a quedar bien, lo hice de todas formas utilizando el L.A. Colors Tropical Storm. La siguiente foto es un close up del efecto de la placa elegida, la SH22.

As the manicure couldn’t be simple, and taking into consideration I was excited about Monica’s nails, that so far, are the best stamping I’ve ever done, I wanted to stamp mine. My husband, who was sitting next to me watching TV told me that it was a bad idea and the nails weren’t going to look fine, I did it anyways using L.A. Colors Tropical Storm. The next picture is a close up of the effect of the chosen plate, SH22.

Creen que mi esposo tenía razón? Debí dejarlo plain? Debí haber escogido otro color? BTW, El nombre de ese esmalte, Tropical Storm, me acordó a la gran lluvia que tuvimos ayer en la mañana en Panamá, alguien de acá que se haya visto afectado? A mí me agarró saliendo del edificio para pasear a Bella, La Cocker. Creo que honestamente, debí escoger otro color para el print, pero es que el blanco me tiene aburrida, que otros colores les gustaría ver sobre estas uñas?

Do you think my husband was right? Should I’ve left this manicure just plain? Should I’ve chosen another color for it? BTW, the name of this polish, Tropical Storm, reminded me of this storm we had on Tuesday on Panama, was anyone affected by this rain? It caught me going out of the building trying to take Bella out for a walk. Honestly, I think I should have chosen another color for this print, but the thing is that white is boring, what other colors would you like to see on these nails?
