Uñas de enferma

Hola a todos!
Me imagino que se preguntan, ¿por qué el nombre de esta entrada?, fácil. Tengo un resfriado súper fuerte. Y tratar de hacerse las uñas resfriada, no es una buena idea, el pulso me temblaba y tosía a cada segundo sobre las pobres uñas a medio hacer. Por eso tampoco escribiré tanto.

I guess you’re wondering about the title of this post (Sick person nails), that’s an easy one, I’m going through an awful flu episode, and trying to do your nails when you’re sick, well wasn’t a good idea, my hand was shaking (a lot) and I was coughing all over the poor half done nails. That’s why I’m keeping the post short too.
The polishes I used for this manicure were:

BBQ-manicure-night!

Hola a todos! Cómo están en este viernes glorioso de quincena? Los viernes son unos de mis días favoritos, pero al mismo tiempo, uno de los días que más estrés me causan porque siento que tengo un montón de pendientes y que NUNCA voy a terminar, pero bueno, a disfrutar que lo que viene es el fin de semana!
Todos los miércoles, de forma religiosa, nos reunimos en la casa de mi amiga Gina a las BBQ semanales, paralelamente esto se ha convertido en las reuniones de manicure de las chicas, así que mientras los hombres hacen sus cosas (como cocinar la carne y traernos lo que vamos a comer/beber) nosotras creamos pequeñas obras de arte en los canvas de las que se presten para esto.
Espero que Gina suba las que ella se hizo, pero mientras tanto puedo compartir las que me hice yo.
Primero, tomé en cuenta que el día siguiente tenía una reunión importante con un cliente muy importante, así que tenía que mantener los neones y el nail art extravagante a un lado, así que pensando en algo más conservador, hicimos un Saran Wrap en mis uñas.
Saran Wrap es una de mis técnicas favoritas, porque es ultra fácil de hacer y siempre se logran resultados muy bonitos. Así que aproveché que en un momento de suerte encontré uno de los esmaltes que más me ha gustado de las colecciones de otoño, OPI Incognito in Sausalito, de base y luego utilicé el esmalte dorado de Laka (144), lo aplique en una bolita de saran wrap y Gina lo puso sobre todas las uñas, luego puse una capa de Seche Vite y quedaron listas (lo único malo fue que esta mañana cuando estaba limpiando las uñas para la foto, me llevé un pedacito del esmalte). Sin más, les dejo con mis uñas y espero que les gusten tanto como a mí.

Hello everyone! How are you in this glorious Friday, AKA, pay day? Fridays are one of my favorite days of the week, but at the same time, one of the most stressful ones, because I always have a lot to do and I keep thinking that I’m never gonna end all the things on my to-do list, but meeh, let’s enjoy the weekend bitches!
You might be asking, what’s up with the title of this post, well, the story behind it is that every Wednesday, a group of friends get together at Gina’s house to enjoy our weekly BBQ night and thanks to this, all the girls has been gathering to get her nails done and while the guys do their things (like cooking the meat and bring us what we want to drink/eat) we create masterpieces in the small canvas of our nails. So, I hope Gina upload the awesome nails she did on Wednesday, but in the meanwhile I’m going to share what I got done on my nails.
First, I took into consideration that I had a very important meeting with a corporative client the day after, so I had to keep the neon and weird nail art off my nails, so thinking in something more, conservative, we did a Saran Wrap, which is one of my favorite techniques, because it is easy to do and the results are always beautiful. For this manicure I used OPI Incognito in Sausalito, which I was happy to find in my country, since it has been my favorite color of the autumn collections I’ve seen so far. I applied one thick coat on all my nails, wait a while until it was dry and then Gina apply a bit of Laka 144 (a beautiful golden polish) on a small ball of Saran Wrap and apply in all my nails, followed by a coat of Seche Vite. So, without further ado, my nails and I hope you like it as much as I do.

Después de terminar la entrada me di cuenta que no tengo fotos de la mano derecha, pero creo que aquí se puede apreciar como se ve el contraste de este hermoso azul oscuro con un poco de dorado. Hola a todos! Como va este inicio de semana! Ya falta menos para el viernes (YAY). Como saben, dejo mis entradas programados con algún tiempo, ya que es lo único que ha funcionado para poder tener más contenido en el blog, bueno eso y espero que cuando esta entrada esté publicada, mi amiga Gina ya nos haya deleitado con algunas de las cosas que hace.
Algunas personas no comprenden la responsabilidad que viene con tener un blog, a veces quisiera solo poder dejarlo de lado, pero siempre hay 30 personas (GRACIAS) que entran al día y leen el contenido que pongo, sé que muchos solo leen para ver las fotos, pero siempre hay personas que se identifican con lo que uno escribe, además que escribir es una de las cosas que más me gusta.
El manicure que quiero compartir hoy lo vi  primero en el blog ‘For the love of nail art’, y estaba inspirado en un tutorial de otra blogger, que además  está al final de la entrada y si hacen clic en la foto, podrán ver la entrada original de estas hermosas y femeninas uñas.

Hello everyone! How’s this week going? Only 3 days missing until Friday (YAY). As you know, I write my entries whenever I have a chance and leave it programmed, this has been the only thing that worked for me in order to generate more content for the blog, well that and I hope that by the time I published this entry, my friend Gina has written something here!
Some people just don’t understand the commitment and responsibility that come with a blog, sometimes I feel like leaving it, but there’s always 30 people (THANKS) that enter daily and read whatever I write here, I know that some of them (well almost everybody), just enter to see pictures, but there’s always people who understand what you are saying and who am I tricking, I do love writing.
So I found today’s manicure in this amazing blog ‘For the love of nail art’, and she had a nail art I loved with a tutorial that is in the end of this post and that’s linked to the original blog from Voni received her inspiration!
So, without further ado, the petals’ nails that I loved.

A manicure that broke my heart.

Hoy quiero compartir en el blog la pesadilla de toda mujer, hacerse un manicure hermoso y perfecto que dure menos de 12 horas.  Todo comienza la noche del domingo, que es cuando normalmente hago algo que espero que dure al menos hasta el jueves, me sentía en un mood de neones, pero como siempre, no quería hacer algo básico, así que con una esponjita de maquillaje me hice unos gradientes invertidos (normalmente las puntas de las uñas llevan el color más oscuro, esta vez, la punta tenía el color más claro), todo estaba bien hasta la mañana siguiente cuando fui a tomarme las fotos «bajo la luz natural del sol». Ya no había manicure perfecto, el color se había caído de varias uñas, solo un poco en un par de uñas y con mucha vergüenza acepto que utilicé este manicure hasta el miércoles, por pereza de quitarmélo más que todo.
Afortunadamente, el manicure me gusto tanto, que no esperé a la mañana para tomarle aunque sea una foto con el celular (si ya sé que antes todas mis fotos eran desde el celular, pero estoy tratando de hacer mejores fotos), así que es la única que tengo para compartir esta noche.
Hacer un manicure con gradientes es muy fácil, cada blogger tiene sus técnicas. La mía es simple, después de la capa base, te pintas 1 capa gruesa del color más claro de tu gradiente (en este caso China Glaze Sun Worshiper), luego, comenzando por el color más oscuro, pintas una esquinita de las esponjas de maquillaje (las blancas triangulares) el color más oscuro del gradiente (trata de no aplicar mucho esmalte) y lo aplicas haciendo un poco de presión (Finger Paints Warhol Wannabe), repite con el siguiente color más oscuro (China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy) hasta llegar al color base, con el cual también sigues este paso, luego aplica una capa de tu top coat favorito.
Sin más, les dejo la foto del manicure que me rompió el corazón.

Today I would like to share the nightmare of every woman, doing a perfect and beautiful manicure and see it gone in less than 12 hours. Everything started one Sunday night, which is the day I work on something I expect to last at least until Thursday, I felt like doing neon colors, but as always, I didn’t want a basic manicure, so using a make up sponge I did some awesome inverted gradients (normally in gradients, the tips have the darkest color in the gradient, this time it was the lightest shade), everything was OK until the next morning when I wanted to take the pictures under the «direct sunlight». There was no perfect manicure anymore, the color of the tips were chipped and gone in some nails and, SHAME ON ME, I wore until Wednesday, because I was too lazy to take it off.
Luckily, I liked it so much that I took one picture with the mobile (I know that before I used to upload all the pictures from my phone, but hey, I’m trying to show you better pictures), so I have one and only one to show you today.
Doing gradients is like super easy and each blogger has her own technique. Mine is simple and easy, after your base coat, apply one thick or thin coat (it depends in the quality of your polish, in this case I applied one thick coat of China Glaze Sun Worshiper), then apply in the corner of a make up sponge a thin coat of the darkest color in your gradient (in this case, Finger Paints Warhol Wannabe), then repeat with the following color (in my case, China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy) and repeat with the base color, after finishing these steps, apply your favorite top coat.

Hola a todas! Hoy quiero compartir una entrada distinta a las normales, hoy quiero darle la bienvenida a Maria Gina, una amiga mía que también está en esta onda ‘nail art’ y que además toma unas fotos preciosas, pueden ver las fotos que hace en su blog haciendo clic aquí.
No puedo introducir a Gina propiamente sin mostrarles primero, las uñas que ha hecho, así que aprovecho para poner unas uñas que me hizo hace poco, además que estuvo de viaje hace unos días y me trajo un montón de cosas chéveres, las cuales también podrán ver debajo.

Fan brush nail art.

Hace unos días atrás, estaba tranquilamente comprando unas cosas en una farmacia Arrocha, cuando, ‘accidentalmente’ pasé por el área los esmaltes y vi un verde que necesitaba para un nail art específico y terminé con 2 compras 🙂 Essie Marshmallow y The more the merrier. 
Como toda adicta a los esmaltes, obviamente no quería dejar de usarlos de una vez, así que me preparé para hacer lo que tenía en mente, que fue un FAAAAIL. No quería dejar mis uñas sin nada, así que traté de hacer un arte que había intentado anteriormente y que no había quedado bien, pero esta vez quedé muy contenta.

Para estas uñas utilicé una capa de Kiko 343 (verde esmeralda), una de Essie The more the merrier y de una vez pasé el «fan brush» (pincel de nail art que parece un abanico de mano) sin presionar, para que se viera corrido, finalmente apliqué una capa delgada de Kiko 343 y luego pasé nuevamente el pincel, una capa de Seche Vite y LISTO! 🙂

Few days ago, I was in Farmacias Arrocha (the closest thing to a CVS), when I passed by the polishes, I didn’t mean it (who am I kidding right?) and I saw this green polish I ‘needed’ for a nail art I have in mind, so I ended up buying Essie Marshmallow and The more the merrier. As the addict I am, I wanted to use the polishes ASAP, so I tried to do what I had in mind and it was a FAIL. I didn’t want to have nude nails, so I tried a manicure I failed before, but this time I was happy with the result.

For these nails, I used Kiko 343 and Essie TMTM. One coat of Kiko, pass the fan brush over the nail (without adding presure),  one coat of Essie TMTM, applied fan brush and one last coat of Kiko + fan brush! Finally, I applied one coat of Seche Vite and it was ready to go.

So, without further ado, my nails.

Manicure Fail

Hola a todos!
No hay nada que pueda desesperarme más que cuando un manicure soñado termina siendo un «disasticure» (nombre acuñado por Nicole, de Polish Me, Please!).  Todo comenzó unas noches atrás, cuando estaba instagrameando un ratito y vi el anuncio de Julep sobre su nueva colección, tenía el manicure más delicado y femenino que he visto en algún tiempo, su ejecución se veía fácil.
Hazlo dijeron, será fácil dijeron. NOT.

Creo que puedo pasar el resto de esta entrada analizando TODO lo que salió mal, pero es simple, no utilicé el pincel correcto.
Así que sin más, les presento el disasticure de esta semana, precedido por el manicure original de Julep, el cual es hermoso! </3

There’s nothing that pisses me off more than a manicure that ends up like a «disasticure» (this is the term used by Nicole, from Polish Me, Please!). Everything started few nights ago, I was on Instagram, you know catching up, when I saw Julep post about their new collection, they used the most delicate and femenine manicure I’ve seen in a while, oh Boy and it looks so easy to do!
Do it, they said. It will be easy they said. NOT. It wasn’t.

So, I guess I could go on and rant about everything that went wrong with this manicure, but the truth is that I didn’t use the right brush. So without further ado, my disasticure of the day.

Pantone of the Year! (..and animal print)

Hoy quiero compartir con uds un manicure que me encantó. Como saben, el color Esmeralda fue nombrado el pantone del año, así que va a estar de moda todo este 2013 :). Me encanta, ya que es un color hermoso! Así que hoy me hice unas uñas con este esmalte de Kiko, que mi amiga Mariola me trajo de su último viaje a Europa. Kiko es una de mis marcas favoritas y me parte el alma que no la vendan fuera de europa :(. Para que este manicure no se viera tan serio decidí hacer 2 accent nails con un print de cheetah!

Para hacerlo, solo pintan 2 capas de Kiko 343 en 3 uñas, 1 capa de China Glaze, Kalahari Kiss, utilizando la placa de BundleMonster BM221 y Finger Paints Sketchy Character me hice el cheetah print y lo rellené utilizando Julep Lexie. Terminé con una capa de Seche Vite.

Today I want to share a manicure I loved! As you know, Emerald was chosen the pantone of the year, so it is gonna be IN all year long YAY! I love this color, is such a beautiful green! So today I used this beautiful Emerald Polish of Kiko, that my friend Mariola brought me from her last trip to Europe. Kiko is one of my favorite brands and it breaks my heart that Kiko isn’t sold outside Europe :(. So, to be more playful (the manicure) I did 2 accent nails with a cheetah print!

To get these nails done, you apply 2 coats of Kiko 343 in 3 nails, in the other 2, 1 thick coat of China Glaze Kalahari Kiss and using the BundleMonster plate BM221 and Finger Paints Sketchy Character I did the cheetah print and I filled using a small dotting tool and Julep Lexie. I finished up with a coat of Seche Vite.
