Más del verano

Hola a todos! El verano trae muchas cosas con él, como mucho sol y calor (aunque aquí hace calor TODO el año!), hermosos colores y un ambiente de fiesta típico y único del verano. El clima es hermoso y hasta la gente está de mejor humor. Puro clima hermoso «caribeño», así que aprovechando el hermoso clima <3, me hice unas uñas así como veraniegas, lo único es que no he podido tomarle fotos con la cámara y como ya me lo quité, solo tengo la versión de instagram!

Hello everyone! Summer brings a lot of stuff with it, like a lot of sun and warmth (even though the weather is SUPER hot all year in Panama), beautiful colors and environment of party! It is more like everyone is happy about a wonderful weather and they’re all in a good mood, caribbean style, so, seizing the beautiful son and inspired by valentine’s, I did a pink manicure that I didn’t take a good picture of it (sorry, just instagram, what a hipster right?)

Cómo hice estas uñas? / How did I get these nails done?

1. Aplicar una capa base, SIEMPRE. / Apply base coat, always.

2. Pintar la uña del dedo meñique e índice con 2 capas de tu esmalte neón rosado favorito, en este caso utilicé China Glaze Pink Voltage (dejando secar un poco entre cada capa), luego en la uña del dedo anular 2 capas de tu blanco favorito, en este caso Masglo Tiza y en la uña del dedo del corazón y pulgar 2 a 3 capas del esmalte holográfico de tu preferencia, aquí Milani 3d HD plateado. / Apply 2 coats of your favorite neon pink in your pinkie and index finger nail, in this case China Glaze Pink Voltage (waiting a while between coats), then in the  fing nail finger apply 2 coats of a white polish, in this case Masglo Tiza and in your middle and thumbnail apply 2 o 3 coats of your favorite holographic polish, in this specific case Milani 3d HD.

3. Luego con un pincel para decorar, pintar líneas horizontales blancas en tu uña del dedo índice y rosadas en tu dedo anular. / Then using a stripping brush, do some horizontal white lines on your index finger and some pink lines on your ring finger nail.

4. Esperar un rato a que seque y aplicar tu brillo favorito. / Wait a while until it is dry, and then apply your favorite top coat.

Estas uñas son fáciles de hacer y lo único que necesitas es un poco de pulso, puedes hacerla también con tape, pero te recomiendo esperar una hora a que sequen las uñas para que queden bien!! Si las haces, por favor tómale una foto y me taggeas en twitter/ instagram: @mariaemmafaria.

Dayra

Dayra, amiga de Mariola, que se ha hecho las uñas 2 veces para apoyar a fundacáncer, vino para hacerse sus uñas. Utilizando Darosa en varios tonos de rosado y Masglo Tiza, hice un stamping rosada como accented nail.

Dayra, a friend of Mariola, who has her nails done twice to support fundacancer, came to get her nails done. Using Darosa in different shades of pink I did a sponge and stamped a white accent nail.

Continuando con el mes de la prevención, Mariola, una amiga desde la escuela vino a hacerse su 2do par de uñas :). Recuerden que todas las uñas que he compartido aquí están colaborando para la colecta que estoy haciendo para Fundacáncer.

I’m still working on the Fundacancer’s manicure, so Mariola, a friend from mine since high school got her 2nd manicure done. Remember that all the nails I’ve shared from my friends are supporting the donation to Fundacancer.

Mariola!

Continuando con las uñas para apoyar a Fundacáncer! Mariola, que estuvo conmigo en la escuela, se unió a la causa y me dejó hacerle el manicure que yo quisiera. AWESOME. Aquí les muestro las uñas que trabajé.

So, here it comes another set of nails supporting Fundacancer. Mariola, who was with me in the school, supported the cause and she let me do the manicure I wanted. How awesome is that? So, here are, her nails.

Skittles Nails \ Uñas de colores!

Desde que había hecho las uñas de mis compañeras de la oficina, una de las chicas que no estaba ese día, quería hacerse sus uñas así que la invité que viniera a la casa y vino junto con otra de mis amigas, la cual le hago sus uñas varias veces al mes.

Since I did my coworkers’ nails, one of the girls, who wasn’t that day here, wanted her nails done, so I invited her to come over and along with her, came Paola, my friend who gets her nails done many times a month.

Esta vez pedimos pizza (mi favorita, con los bordes rellenos de queso) y comenzamos a trabajar en las uñas de cada una!

This time we ordered pizza (my favorite, with the borders filled with cheese!) and I started working on my friends nails.

Para sus uñas utilicé \ For her nails I used:

• Cherimoya Heavy Metal

• Darosa (no name on polish)

Primero, pinté una capa de el endurecedor de Shaki, luego 2 capas de pintura, cada uña de un color, excepto de Orange Rush que necesitó 3 para dar cobertura. Ahora, las uñas de Jimena me dieron cierta dificultad para pintar, porque son muy largas y muy anchas (más que las de mi tía luciola que estaban en la entrada del domingo pasad0) y las placas de Shany que tengo no daban la suficiente cobertura. Así que después de un par de intentos fallidos, terminé colocando stamps simples en cada una. Uno distinto en cada uña. Sellé con una capa del top coat acrílico de Sally Hansen.

First I painted one coat of Shaki hardening, then 2 coats of each color on each nails, except for the Orange Rush, that needed 3 coats to have full coverage. Now, Jimena’s nails were a bit difficult to get done, they were too wide and long (more than my aunt luciola’s nails featured on last sunday entry) and the Shany Plates didn’t cover the nail properly. So after a couple of failed attempts, I finished working with a simple stamp on each nail, a different one. I sealed the manicure with one coat of Sally Hansen Acrylic top coat.

Para las uñas de Paola, que ya han visto muchas veces, quise probar utilizar 2 colores distintos en las placas y sus uñas resultaron súper coloridas y divertidas, me encantaron.

For Paola’s nails, that you have seen many times, I wanted to use 2 different colors on each nail using the plates, and the results were colorful and funny nails, I loved them.

Para este manicure utilicé más de 20 esmaltes, fue todo rapidez y coordinación y quedé muy satisfecha con los resultados. Primero pinté una base con los esmaltes blancos, 2 capas y luego utilizando la placa de Shany, puse los 2 colores en cada placa y apliqué. Sellé con una capa del acrylic coat. Creo que este fin de semana intentaré hacer algo así en mis propias uñas.

For this manicure I used more than 20 polishes, so it was all hurry and coordination and I was more than happy with the results. First I applied 2 coats of white polish (Darosa) and then I used the Shany Plates, using the 2 different colors. I sealed with a coat of the acrylic coat. I think this weekend I will try to do something similar on my nails.

Y como no podía quedarse atrás Bella, ahora con complejo de gato, se acostó con gran parte de la noche en el respaldar del sillón.

And because Bella is always there, now she’s developing a cat complex, she spent most of the night on the support of the chair.

Jellysandwich Intento 2

Después de las uñas de ayer, donde mi Jellysandwich fue un desastre total, aproveché que se me dañó una de las uñas e intenté rehacerlas nuevamente, esta vez siguiendo los comentarios que Nicole escribió en la entrada anterior. Debo decir que quedó MUCHO mejor. Estoy mucho más contenta con el resultado y creo que el próximo intento quedará casi perfecto.

After failing my first Jellysandwich attempt tonight, I tried to re-do the jellysandwich, this time following Nicole‘s advice on my previous entry. This time, I must confess the nails looked WAY better. I’m much happier with the results and maybe next time my nails will look perfect. 🙂

Esta vez pinte una capa base, luego una capa super delgada de Masglo Tierna, luego otra capa de SOPI, repetí una vez más, sellé con una capa de Masglo y luego cuando se secó un top coat acrílico.

This time I applied a base coat, then one thin coat of Masglo Tierna, another of SOPI, one thin coat of Masglo Tierna, another of SOPI and then applied one last thin coat of Masglo Tierna and top coat of my acrylic top coat.

Girls Night In!

Hoy estuvo mi amiga Paola en la casa nueva, vino a conocerla y aproveché para practicar mis skills en el stamping. Me encanta cuando la gente me deja practicar, porque así me perfecciono y cada vez las cosas quedan mejor. Para ella, utilizamos 2 stampings distintos, y en mis uñas trate de emular las uñas de otra bloggera que sigo, Nicole de Polish Me, Please, ya uds verán el input de c/manicure al final. También hoy contamos con la compañía de Bella, La Cocker, la cual hizo gala de su peor comportamiento, se llevó el algodón, la acetona, se acostó encima de nosotros, nos movía la mesa mientras trataba de pintarle las uñas a Paola y ahora mientras escribo esto duerme tranquilamente sobre mis piernas. Tienen mascotas? Se portan bien? No se trata de almorzar sus esmaltes?

Tonight, my friend Paola came to visit our new place and I seize the opportunity to practice and improve my stamping skills. I love when people let me practice in their nails, because I can get better at it. For her nails, we used 2 different types of stamping and in my nails, I tried to do a jelly sandwich I saw on Nicole from Polish Me, Please’s blog, you will see my input at the end. Also, we had the company of Bella, La Cocker (my dog), who was behaving like a crazy pet, she pull out from the bag all the cotton I have for removing the polish, then she run away with the polish remover, then she lay down on us, theen she was moving the table while trying to get Paola’s nail done and NOW that I’m trying to write this down, she is sleeping like  a little angel over my legs. Do you have pets? Do they behave? Don’t they try to eat your polish?

Para las uñas de Paola, primero hicimos una base con SH DD, luego pase 2 capas de cada uno de los esmaltes de darosa de acuerdo a los colores en las uñas. Esperamos un rato a que secara y entonces hicimos el imprint de las placas. Es la primera vez desde que comencé a usar las placas que funcionan bien al primer intento, me tomó super poco tiempo y creo que he mejorado. Acá no se pueden conseguir los esmaltes de Konad, hay que ordenarlos, pero creo que los de Vogue son una excelente opción. El «Extreme» que utilicé me pone contenta, porque es un esmalte que tengo hace 4 años y AÚN funciona a la perfección. YAY. Finalizamos con una capa del acrylic coat.

For Paola’s nails, first, I applied one coat of SH DD and the 2 coats of Darosa’s polishes according to the color into the nails.We waited  a while until the nails were completely dried and then we did the imprint. This is the first time since I started using the plates that everything worked in the first try, it didn’t take  me awhile and I think I’m getting better at it. Getting the Konad polishes here is impossible, I have to order everything online, but so far Vogue polishes has been the perfect option. The «Extreme» polish I used to imprint the strawberries made me happy, I have had this polish for more than for years and it’s still perfect. YAY. To finish this mani, we applied one coat of the acrylic coat.

Para mis uñas, primero la base de SH DD, luego una capa de Masglo Exitosa seguida de una capa de SOPI Traffic-Stopper Copper por uña (o sea, una capa seguida de la otra sin esperar que se secara) en toda la mano y luego repetí la operación 3 veces. No me gustó como quedó, no sé si fue la combinación de colores, no sé si la últma capa de escarchado debió haber ido acompañada de otra capa de Masglo en vez del acrylic coat. No lo sé. Simplemente, me hace falta un poco más de practica y espero que la próxima vez salga algo mejor.

For my nails, first I applied one coat of SH DD, then one coat of Masglo Exitosa followed immediately of one coat of SOPI Traffic-Stopper Copper on each nail, then I repeated it 3 times. I didn’t like the result, I’m not sure if it was the color combination or of the last coat of glitter should have had another top coat of Masglo Exitosa instead of the acrylic coat. I don’t know. I think I need more practice to get these type of things done. I hope next time it looks better. 

Mami-Mani – Soft Kitty, pretty kitty.. little ball of fur..

Como saben por mis uñas anteriores, estaba a punto de mudarme, lo cual ha sido un cansancio extremo y absoluto, pero ya estoy en mi apartamento nuevo y estoy súper feliz! Ayer vino mi mama a visitarnos y a traernos unas cosas que estaban en su casa, además que mi papa vino a ayudarnos a instalar las cortinas, que al final no pudimos instalar las del cuarto principal! :(. Así que mientras los hombres trabajaban, aproveche y le pinté las uñas a mi mamá, utilizando las plaquitas de shany que ella las había visto y quería utilizarlas. Al principio se negó a dejarse hacer algo moderno, pero después hice lo que quise y ella quedó MUY feliz con el resultado de sus uñas!

As you know, because of my latest nail art, I was about to move to my new house, which has been an extreme duty, but I am now in the new apartment and I’m very happy! So, yesterday my mom came to visit and to bring some stuff that I left in her house and also, my dad came to help us to install the curtains, but in the end they (my dad and husband) couldn’t install the main room’s ones :(. So, meanwhile the men were working, I did my mom nails, using the shany plates which she saw on the previous entries and she wanted to used it. At the beginning she was in denial, she didn’t want to have something modern, but in the end I did what I wanted and she was VERY happy about the results

Primero, pasé una capa de Sally Hansen Doubly Duty  y luego pinté 2 uñas de cada mano con 3 capas de Masglo Quinceañera (este esmalte es de la vieja escuela, tiene como 3 años así que quedaron bastantes imperfecciones), luego pinté las otras 3 uñas de cada mano con 2 capas de Masglo Sincera, que estaba en mejor estado. Luego, utilicé la placa SH08 de Shany y le puse un gatito a mi mamá en una uña utilizando el esmalte de Jordania Burgundy (no funcionó muy bien, me tocó hacer varios intentos hasta que se pegó al stamp) y luego hice unas patitas con Vogue Chicle para el dedo gordo y sellé con una capa de Sally Hansen Acrylic Coat.

First, I applied a coat of Sally Hansen Double Duty and then applied in 2 nails of each hand 3 coats of Masglo Quinceañera (this nail polish is old school, it has around 3 years so I noticed many imperfections), then I applied in the other 3 hands 2 coats of Masglo Sincera (which was in a better situation), then I waited until they were full dried (it took a while since this polishes are not fast-dry) and then using the Jordania Burgundy I imprinted the cat in the SH08 Shany Plate, then using Vogue Chicle I imprinted a paw in the thumb nail.

Sunset Nails

Hace rato tenía ganas de hacerme una uña de cada color, no lo había hecho aún y aproveche para hacerlo de una vez por todas. Esta vez acompañé el pedicure, siguiendo el patrón de las manos, así que ando con mis uñas de colores por todos lados. Lo que más me gustó, es que tuve la oportunidad de mezclar varias marcas y poder comprobar la diferencia entre sus texturas y que tal se complementaban las unas a las otras.

I wanted to do each of my nails in different colors for a while, and I hadn’t done it, so I decided to go for it once for all. This time I did my pedicure following my hands pattern, so I’m sunset nailed (not sure if the word is OK.. haha). What I liked the most is that I had the chance to try many of my nails polish of different brands and see the difference of their textures and how well they complement each other.

Usé \ I used

• Sally Hansen Double Duty
• Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Cherry Red
• Darosa Nail Lacquer (2 red, 1 neon orange and 1 neon yellow)
• Masglo Naranja (Orange)
• Essie Capri
• Elf Show Nail Polish 75
• Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Snappy Sorbet
• Masglo Amarillo (yellow)
• Sally Hansen No Chip Acrylic Coat

Primero, la capa base de SH DD, luego pinté cada uña de los colores que aparecen arriba en el mismo orden que aparece arriba, 2 capas para casi todos, excepto el de elf show y el Darosa Yellow Neon, que tuve que hacerle 3, esperé que secaran y entonces apliqué una capa del acrylic coat. La verdad es que quedé feliz con el look final de las uñas, excepto el amarillo neón que no forma parte del atardecer, pero es que no tenía más colores para usar después del amarillo, quizás la próxima vez trabaje un atardecer, tendré más variedad de colores o podría comenzar con un morado oscuro e ir degradando? Ahora que veo las fotos, creo que hubiera podido usar el colo que utilicé en el Papaya French, pero no lo pensé en el momento. Honestamente, no creo que vaya a repetir este estilo pronto, no con estos colores al menos. Quizás haga un degradado con algunos, pero estas uñas con tonalidades del atardecer, no creo que las vuelva repetir!

First, I applied one coat of SH DD, then I painted each nail with each color in the picture in the same order they appear in the picture, 2 coats for each of them, except for the Elf Show and the Darosa Yellow Neon, I have to paint 3 coats, I waited until the nails dried and applied one coat of the acrylic coat. TBH, I was happy with the delivery of my nails, excepto for the yellow neon that is not part of a sunset, but the truth is that I didn’t have a polish to apply after the yellow one, maybe the next time I’ll try a sunset degradé I will have more polish colors or try to begin with a purple. But now that I’m writing this post and looking the picture, I remembered my Papaya French, I could had used that color, I didn’t think of it in the moment. Honestly, I don’t think I’m going to repeat this nails any time soon, not with this colors at least. I might work on a different degradé, but this sunset-alike style, I don’t think I will repeat it.

Pink Bachelorette Nails!

Se casa mi amiga Marlene, así que sus amigas más cercanas le hicieron una despedida sorpresa a la que fui invitada. El tema era vestir rosado, shorts y tacones. No tenía nada rosado que ponerle, lo más parecido era un color mamey que utilicé, junto con pantalones blancos y flats, ya que con lo vieja que estoy, no aguanto tacones más de 20 minutos. Así que decidí pintar mis uñas rosadas y tratar de usar otra de mis plaquitas.

My friend Marlene is getting married, so her closest friends throw her a surprise bachelorette party which I was invited to. The theme was to wear something pink, short pants and heels. Sad to admit, I didn’t have anything of the clothes mentioned before. So when the day arrived, I wore a mamey shirt, white pants and animal print flats, because I’m too old to wear heels for more than 20 minutes. So I decided to paint may nails pink.

Usé \ I Used:

• Sally Hansen Double Duty
• Vogue Chicle (chicle means bubble gum)
• Masglo Fucsia
• Masglo Sincera (sincera means sincere)
• Shany Plate SH19
• Sally Hansen No Chip Acrylic Coat

Primero, pinté la capa base (es un paso que siempre hago), luego pinte 4 uñas con Vogue Chicle y la uña del dedo gordo con Masglo Fucsia, 2 capas en cada uña. Esperé a que secaran y traté de imprimir la boca solo en un dedo, utilizando Masglo Fucsia, como no se apreciaba, entonces utilice Masglo Sincera y puse una boca también en el dedo gordo. La verdad es que no me gustó mucho como se veía, pero creo que los colores eran perfectos para esa noche. Finalmente sellé con Sally Hansen No Chip Acrylic Coat.

First I painted one coat of SH DD. Then I painted 4 nails with Vogue Chicle, and for the thumb nail I used Masglo Fucsia, 2 coats of each lacquer. I waited until all of them were dried and tried to imprint the kiss on one nail only, but I wasn’t able to see any difference, so I used the Masglo Sincera and also applied one kiss on the thumb nail. The truth is that I didn’t like this manicure, but the colors were perfect for that night. Finally, I applied one coat of SH No Chip Acrylic Coat and I was ready to PAR-TEEYY!
